Produced for two years (1959-1960), the Danelectro Companion is one of the rarer guitars produced out of Neptune, NJ. It's a hybrid between a Convertible (deeper, hollow body) and a DC-2 (two pickups.) This one is a 1960. (You can tell the '59s because they only have one screw at the base of the bridge.)

This one has what I call the "Mouradian Mod": the stacked controls are replaced with single volume / tone speed knobs, something he did for my Dano baritone back in the late 90s and which he correctly predicted I'd love.

Jim Mouradian was a talented luthier, bass player, repairman. He treated all his clients like rock stars; he genuinely cared about helping out musicians and improving musical instruments, and he was a wonderful human being with a heart of gold. His passing in 2017 is a huge loss.

Many Companions suffer from a fragile floating bridge design, and some tend to get a bit of "sink" at the bridge. This one was no exception, and a reinforcing piece of mahogany was added.
